This tool will allow for students, teachers, and community organizations to find experiential learning opportunities so that all involved can find unique and positive benefit from this collaboration.

It does not try to (nor could it) replace the fundamentals of an HSE Schools education, nor take away from our incredible teachers.

But it will help educators and students to find new and innovative partners throughout our community.

Why not bring a geologist into a classroom when learning about Mohs Hardness Scale and what it means for different kinds of rocks? Or bring a healthcare data expert into a computer science class to show first hand – how learning the laboratory can equip students to bring better medical care to patients around the world?

With this tool – these connections can be made.
Experiential Learning provides an opportunity for an individual or groups of individuals to learn in or outside of the classroom through, “learning by doing.” Most often in the form of non-traditional or novel learning which supports or expands the curriculum by encouraging problem-solving, reflection, discovery, self-learning, and the use of real, hands-on activities.
This effort is a collaboration between Hamilton Southeastern Schools, the City of Fishers, and many community partners. It would not be possible without students, educators, and community organizations!
Community organizations who believe in the value of education are the best partners. This initiative is one centered around providing novel and innovation opportunities for all our students. All! We believe in a world-class education for every student, in every grade. K-12. Of course, a 3rd Grader won’t be completing an internship that a 12th Grader would, but experiences - with the help of educators, administrators, guidance counselors, and community organizations - will be available for all!
Community organizations will drive many of the opportunities available. This effort requires the participation of many community organizations, in all industries. The success of this effort will be in the belief that our students and community can find mutual benefit in such a remarkable vision
Nothing! In fact, finding more possible community partners who can provide a greater number of field trip opportunities in all different areas would be great! But beyond field trips, there are incredible and meaningful ways to bring the community into the classroom and the classroom into the community. What if a field trip could connect students with community organizations to solve real world problems?

For Organizations

As small or large as you’d like. Some partner organizations have committed to hosting multiple interns throughout the school year. Others are only able to provide the occasional guest speaking opportunity. All experiences can be beneficial to our community and to our students.

For Students

For Educators

It won’t change the integral role of educators. And it won’t remove the curriculum. Experiential learning might not even happen in every class – but it will provide new opportunities to support a well-rounded education and offer students hands-on experiences, and a chance to see how what they are learning in the classroom has an impact out in the world.
